Welcome to Stra.ai: The Ultimate Guide to AI Video Localization
If you've ever spent a full day syncing subtitles or coordinating voice actors just to release one video in a second language, you already know the problem Stra.ai was built to solve.
Stra.ai is an AI video localization software that handles two core tasks: generating translated subtitles and creating AI-dubbed voiceovers — directly in your browser, without any extra software to install.
This guide is your starting point. It explains what Stra.ai does, how the two main workflows differ, and where to go next depending on what you need.
What is AI video localization?
Video localization means adapting your video content so it feels natural to an audience in a different language. That goes beyond a simple translation , it means matching tone, timing, and context.
Traditional localization is expensive and slow. You need translators, voice actors, a recording studio, and an editor to sync everything up. For most creators and small teams, that's not realistic at scale.
AI video localization software like Stra.ai automates the heavy lifting. Upload your video, choose a target language, and the AI transcribes, translates, and either generates subtitles or a full dubbed audio track in a fraction of the time.
The two tools inside Stra.ai
You access both tools from the left sidebar when you log in. Choose the one you need, hit Create, and a project setup popup opens.
AI Subtitles generates a translated subtitle file synced to your video. You get a timeline editor where you can review the original and translation side by side, adjust timing on the waveform, and export as SRT or as burned-in captions.
AI Dubbing replaces the audio track with an AI-generated voiceover in the target language. The AI separates speakers, matches intonation and pacing to the original, and lets you fine-tune voice tone and emotion before export. The dubbing workflow also accepts YouTube URLs directly paste a link and Stra.ai pulls the video automatically, no download needed. You can also use the "generate translation first" toggle to output subtitles only before committing to full voice generation.
Both tools use the same translation engine , one that reads the full script for context rather than translating line by line, which is what makes the output sound natural instead of robotic.

Who is Stra.ai for?
Stra.ai fits a wide range of workflows:
Video creators and YouTubers who want to reach international audiences without building a localization team
Marketing and content teams producing multilingual campaigns
E-learning producers who need accurate, consistent translations across long-form course content
Agencies handling subtitles or dubbing at volume for clients
If your content involves spoken video and you need it in more than one language, Stra.ai fits into your pipeline.
How the translation works
The translation engine in Stra.ai does not translate one sentence at a time. It reads the entire script first, then translates with full context — which means it handles idioms, speaker style, and narrative flow much better than standard machine translation.
You can guide the translation using a custom prompt or a built-in style preset. Presets include Live Sports Commentary, Casual Drama/Show Style, Formal News Report, Teen/Gen Z Style, and Child Friendly. Or write your own prompt to match your brand tone exactly.
